(76) night prowlers...
The guys from the alarm company came on Saturday morning for a routine check and maintenance job. One of them commented, "Your system is working fine. Hmm... it had not been triggered off at all for the whole of last year. That's very good!" Well, he spoke a little too soon!
At 3am last night, the peace and quiet of the neighbourhood was shattered by our shrieking siren! Rudely awakened, Laogong jumped out of bed to cut off the horrendous sound. We thought it was already 6am and that the maid had forgotten to disarm the alarm system when she woke up.
I opened my bedroom door to find one hungry prowler scuttling up the stairs and the other pacing behind her bedroom door! These two had stayed up to plough through old issues of Reader's Digest and in their eagerness to satisfy their hunger pangs, they had forgotten to disarm the infra-red sensor!
