366 couples in Singapore tied the knot today even though it falls within the Hungry Ghost Month, the 7th month of the lunar calendar.
09/09/09 is a very special date because the number '9' or '九' is pronounced 'jiu', which sounds the same as '久' which means 'long-lasting' or 'forever'.
One person said: 'I believe that getting married is a lifetime commitment, and so I would like it to be an auspicious date like today 09/09/09. It means forever and we hope we can be together as long as we live.'
So many chose 09/09/09 as their wedding day, hoping that the date would bring longevity to their weddings and lives. But whatever date a couple chooses, they should bear in mind the following quote:
